One Killed, 8 Hurt at Marion Indiana GM plant

Construction Accidents

Jim Gibson was killed at the General Motors Stamping plant in Marion Indiana Tuesday and an Additional 8 others were injured. General Motors does not have the best history of admitting when its actions are putting others at risk, hopefully IOSHA will be able to get to the root causes of the tragedy and help prevent fatal future accidents. In reading newspaper accounts, it appears Mr. Gibson, 48, was well liked by all, and was a safety conscious individual. He was employed by Quaker Chemical corporation as a site manager. As an OSHA safety instructor and work injury lawyer, I am concerned that GM will “circle the wagons” as they did with the recent ignition switch cover up until several people were killed and their lawyers started to investigate. Eventually the federal government got involved and GM began to recall the vehicles and is now agreeing to compensate the victims. When a tragedy like the Marion Stamping Plant that takes the life of a Jim Gibson happens, you need a lawyer. General Motors has thousands of them.
